HistoryI want to make video games
The Oddwarg started realising his dream of making his own video games in 2001, when he was about 12 years old. This was made possible using the software Game Maker 3.0, which he got from a friend. He later went on to use a variety of other game creation software, but spent most of his time working with the various versions of Game Maker for many years to come. Over the years he taught himself programming as well as how to make illustrations, sprites, music and sound effects. He also found himself increasingly involved with the furry fandom, which was reflected in many of his games.
In 2009, he graduated from high school with good results and intended to go on to study veterinary science. However, he was conscripted into the army to serve in the engineering battalion. This was a year characterised by depression, and he came to the realisation that it was not worth spending your life doing what you think you should do instead of what you want to do. As a result, he decided to study computer science instead, and applied for the Master's course in computer science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. This course allowed for specialisation in video game technology, while also providing qualifications to work in other fields in the case that being a game designer would not prove to be financially viable.
He spent six and a half years at the university, living on his father's old sailboat. Much happened during this time. He created the infamous "Eggman Hates Furries", fell madly in love with the brony fandom, visited the Galapagos islands, and learned a great deal of things. His game development efforts shifted from Game Maker to Java with OpenGL. Meanwhile, there was a massive growth in indie game culture and the world saw the rise of modern social networks and crowdfunding. This bolstered his belief that being an independent game developer was a realistic possibility. Finally, he graduated from the university with the paper "Jigsaw EMF Editor" in early 2016. This meant that the time spent making games for free had to come to a close. He founded the sole proprietorship "Oddwarg" shortly after.
Since then, he has been working on the Sulphur Nimbus project, for which he ran a barely successful Kickstarter campaign in late 2016. Although he underestimated the amount of work this would take and ultimately had to do other jobs on the side, the game was finally released in late 2019, two years after the estimated delivery date.
Meanwhile, he has also been collaborating with Hubol on the Super Bogus World II project, with a release date yet to be determined.
There are far more images available for Oddwarg, but these are the ones we felt would be most useful to you. If you have specific requests, please do contact us!
